Position Summary:
The individual in this role will collaborate with project teams on civil engineering and associated technical tasks.

This position is primarily associated with the renewable energy industry and power distribution, with opportunities to explore other sectors as required.

Responsibilities will encompass supporting engineers and clients in the development of wind and solar initiatives, drafting construction documents, conducting site assessments, performing feasibility analyses, designing roadways, grading, stormwater management, preparing technical documentation, and various other assignments.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline
Two years of relevant experience
Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and intermediate to advanced Excel capabilities
Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other CAD-based civil design applications
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities
Willingness and capability to conduct fieldwork independently or as part of a team, both locally and out of town, as necessary
Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship from Barr
Possession of a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record

Desirable Qualifications:
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain certification within one year
Experience in preparing plans and specifications, evaluating alternatives, and generating quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
Construction administration experience, including reviewing and responding to payment applications, submittals, and claims, as well as interpreting plans, specifications, and bid documents
Experience in drafting presentations, memos, and report content and visuals
Two or more years of related work experience
Familiarity with Civil 3D
Experience with GIS-based software
Strong enthusiasm for renewable energy projects

Work Arrangement:


A hybrid work arrangement may be available for this position, allowing for a combination of office and remote work.

This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota office.

Additional Requirements:


Applicants must be able to work in environments that feature challenging terrain typical of construction sites and must be capable of entering and working in facilities with limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions common to industrial settings.

The role will involve lifting or moving field-testing equipment. Safety training will be provided prior to work assignments on these sites. Applicants will be required to participate in a drug screening program as requested by clients.

Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $67,000-$80,000/year. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this role may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
