POSITION OVERVIEW
We are in search of a meticulous and seasoned Senior Accountant to enhance our finance department.
This role is crucial in supervising diverse financial operations, ensuring precision, adherence to regulations, and the smooth functioning of financial processes.
The Senior Accountant will handle intricate accounting responsibilities, assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, and support the overall financial management of the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with the Senior Director of Accounting to oversee the month-end and year-end closing of the general ledger, taking charge of routine journal entries and account reconciliations, including expenses from international offices.
Ensure that accounting practices and controls are consistently in line with U.S. GAAP, maintaining all necessary documentation in accordance with LA Tourism's Document Retention Policy. (30%)Manage the administration of departmental credit cards, ensuring accurate coding and allocation by funding source. Conduct monthly reconciliations of all credit card transactions and work with departments to resolve any discrepancies. (20%)
Work alongside the Accounts Payable Manager to enforce T&E Policy, leading monthly reviews and reporting on exceptions.
(15%)Assist in managing LA Tourism's banking relationships and accounts. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and audit bank deposits. (10%)
Engage in the annual external audit process by preparing schedules, gathering documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries. (10%)
Support departments with inquiries regarding general ledger transactions and reporting, investigate variances, and educate team members on finance policies and procedures.
(10%)Perform additional duties as required. (5%)
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's Degree along with 3-5 years of experience in Finance and Accounting is essential.
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel for work-related purposes as necessary.
A comprehensive background check, including a drug test, will be conducted in accordance with applicable laws.Familiarity with financial management systems (FMS) and reporting software is required.
Solid understanding of GAAP and experience in full-cycle accounting is necessary.
Exceptional analytical skills and comfort with large datasets are crucial.
Ability to quickly understand concepts and apply analytical thinking to projects is important.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
Dependability, a positive attitude, motivation, and teamwork are key attributes.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines is important.
Effective communication across various departments is required.
Adaptability to a dynamic work environment is essential.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience working with or within a non-profit organization is a plus.
COMPENSATION
Compensation will vary based on skills and experience.
$80,000 - $95,000
