Position Overview:
Peraton is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to spearhead the design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance of shared disk storage solutions. This role involves conducting performance assessments, troubleshooting issues, and developing strategies for data recovery and backup.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Evaluate and recommend alternative storage systems, particularly in comparison to Linux NFS, including technologies such as MinIO and CEPH.
  • Conduct testing of alternative storage solutions, formulate migration strategies, and oversee the transition of storage systems.
  • Create and update user manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide insights on operational infrastructure configuration settings, performance optimization, and troubleshooting methodologies.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field from an accredited institution, accompanied by six (6) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in projects of similar scope and complexity. Alternatively, four (4) additional years of Systems Engineering experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Proven experience in the design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance of disk storage systems.
  • Expertise in managing virtual machine architecture (Nutanix) for system administration access to networked devices.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure support systems, including Gigamon, Splunk virtual infrastructure, Juniper devices, CISCO ASA & ISR series devices, Rubrik, PaloAlto, LINUX NFS, and NiFi servers.
  • Ability to perform regular patching and upgrades to software applications, network operating systems, and network appliances to maintain system accreditation.
  • Possession of an active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in implementing, operating, tuning, optimizing, and maintaining solutions for virtualization, storage, data protection, and networking services.
  • Knowledge of SALT automation for infrastructure management, remote execution, and configuration management of device configuration files and software applications (e.g., LibreNMs, IPAM, NetBox), as well as operating systems (e.g., RedHat, Centos).
  • Familiarity with AWS Cloud Hosting environments.
  • Experience with documentation tools such as NetBox and Confluence for hardware and software development, testing, and production environments.
