Transportation Engineer Assistant

This is an entry-level professional services and scientific work position in the field of Engineering, performing a variety of moderately complex engineering functions in support of construction and maintenance of public works structures, systems, and facilities and transportation engineering.
The successful candidate will be required to conduct annual inspections at 30 general aviation airports in the state of Maine, ensuring safe, obstruction clear approaches exist for active runways, as well as reviewing the operational condition of all pavement surfaces at the airports.
Additionally, the Assistant Engineer will be the primary point of contact for advising on engineering projects at state public airports, serving as a liaison between MaineDOT, the airport Sponsor, and the FAA for the engineering review of airport infrastructure projects.
The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field, or non-engineering college graduates and non-degreed candidates must possess a Certification of Engineer-Intern as issued by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
