About Duke University Hospital
Located in Durham, North Carolina, Duke University Hospital is recognized nationally for its outstanding healthcare services. As the largest facility within the Duke Health system, it boasts 1048 patient beds and 65 operating rooms, along with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic resources, including a regional emergency/trauma center.
Position OverviewThis role is eligible for relocation assistance and a commitment bonus. The work schedule is primarily during the 3rd shift, specifically Wednesday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough screenings of patients to ensure MR safety prior to procedures.
- Assist radiologists in protocol development and procedure execution, including starting IVs and administering contrast media as required.
- Evaluate the quality of MR scans, organizing processed images and ensuring proper labeling.
- Manage patient scheduling and clerical tasks related to MR procedures.
- Accurately document charges for MR services and supplies in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
- Maintain comprehensive patient records and documentation.
- Provide mentorship and training for new technologists and student technologists.
- Address the psychological and physical needs of patients undergoing MR procedures.
- Utilize the Image Archival System effectively.
- Perform advanced tasks related to high field strength magnets to generate specialized radiographic images.
- Position patients appropriately for MR scans, utilizing necessary immobilization and protective equipment.
- Coordinate patient flow across multiple MR sites and assist in the education of new medical staff.
- Collaborate with radiologists and physicists to innovate new MR imaging protocols unique to Duke Health.
- Support research initiatives by executing scanning protocols as directed.

Qualifications
Education: Completion of an accredited program that meets the eligibility criteria for certification or currently holds the necessary certification.
Experience: Level I candidates must achieve ARRT certification within 18 months of employment. Level II requires a minimum of two years of experience as an MRI technologist, while Level III necessitates at least four years of experience in the specialty modality.
Licensure and Certification: Certification in Radiography, Radiation Therapy, Nuclear Medicine Technology, or registry eligibility for Magnetic Resonance is required. ARRT or ARMRIT registration in Magnetic Resonance must be obtained within 18 months of employment, along with BLS certification.
