About the Role

At Mindful Care, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Records Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time position that requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.

Job Summary

The Medical Records Specialist will be responsible for organizing, maintaining, and securing patient health records within Mindful Care's hybrid work environment. This role ensures that all medical records are accurate, complete, and accessible to authorized personnel, supporting the efficient flow of information for patient care, billing, and compliance purposes.

Responsibilities
  • Retrieve, collect, and prioritize all requests for medical records made through the organization, patients, and affiliates.
  • Record and track all record requests, releases, and authorizations within the Electronic Medical Record HPI.
  • Verify the legitimacy, accuracy, and authority of all such requests and then process and invoice as appropriate.
  • Review, develop, and implement standards and procedures for processing medical records requests with administrative support.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of applicable policies, processes, laws, and regulations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's degree in health information technology or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in medical records, healthcare administration, or a similar role.
  • Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and medical terminology.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Ability to be professional and courteous with internal and external customers at all times, including under stress.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate articulately and comprehend written and verbal communications.
