Position Summary

Little Light of Mine is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to become part of our nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will be available approximately three days a week from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with some flexibility in hours based on operational needs. The role of the Teacher encompasses the development of a cohesive educational team, the coordination of the curriculum, and the management of daily classroom operations.

Key Responsibilities

The Teacher will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing an educational curriculum through the creation of classroom activities that align with developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Leading by example and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Planning engaging individual and group activities that promote social, cognitive, and emotional development.
  • Maintaining open communication with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher meetings.
  • Ensuring compliance with all center policies and state regulations.
  • Creating a healthy and safe classroom environment by upholding hygiene and cleanliness standards.
  • Supervising teacher assistants and volunteers to ensure adherence to planned activities and safety protocols.
  • Keeping accurate records and documentation.
  • Engaging in personal professional development to promote continuous improvement.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • High energy and enthusiasm.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with basic computer proficiency.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with staff, children, and parents to foster a supportive team atmosphere.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained prior to starting).
  • A clean background check and successful health screening.
  • A willingness to train and grow within the role.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to lift up to 35 lbs, keep pace with children's physical activities, and transition quickly between sitting and standing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in a second language.
  • Previous experience in a daycare setting.
  • A passion for the arts.
  • Additional skills or knowledge relevant to a childcare environment.
