Job OverviewMetro PT seeks a motivated licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to work closely with a Physical Therapist. Our clinics have well-trained staff, state-of-the-art facilities, and equipment. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and development within a progressive team.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in patient care, notifying the supervising Physical Therapist of any concerns regarding the patient's condition.
- Follow the Plan of Care established by the Physical Therapist and practice within state guidelines.
- Exercise sound judgment, care, professionalism, and skill in performing duties.
- Instruct and counsel patients effectively on exercises and recovery.
- Identify patient needs and exhibit compassion and caring.
- Convey potential modifications ensuring patient progress, safety, and comfort to the Physical Therapist.
- Complete documentation in the EMR to support the delivery of physical therapy services.
- Under direct supervision, record daily notes with co-signature by a PT.
- Provide information to patients by answering questions and requests.
- Help treat patients by applying ice or heat packs, assisting with exercise equipment, monitoring motion, tracking walking time and distance, performing prescribed exercises, and strengthening techniques as requested by PT.
- Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Enhance the physical therapy department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments, and being a team player.
- Report any issues needing resolution to Physical Therapists.
- Precertification (PTA), Licensed to practice in the State of New York.
- Hands-on experience with therapeutic exercises, functional training, and physical modalities.
- Ability to communicate and instruct effectively.
- Ability to delegate appropriate support care to non-licensed staff and serve as a resource in their training.
