Position Overview:
In accordance with established hospital policies and standards, the Nursing Supervisor is accountable for the 24-hour management of designated clinical units. This includes staff development, performance evaluations, scheduling, and quality assurance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate significant occurrences to the appropriate leadership and management personnel.
- Assess staffing requirements for each shift and adjust accordingly to meet patient needs and staff capabilities.
- Foster a culture of accountability and independence among nursing staff.
- Delegate patient care responsibilities based on individual patient needs and staff qualifications.
- Respond to emergency situations and coordinate nursing activities effectively.
- Ensure the implementation of comprehensive nursing processes, including patient assessments and care planning.
- Serve as a resource for nursing staff, providing guidance and support.
- Maintain a safe and compliant unit environment, ensuring adherence to safety and infection control protocols.
- Facilitate the orientation and training of new staff members.
- Conduct timely performance evaluations for nursing staff and set achievable goals.
- Identify educational needs and collaborate with clinical educators for ongoing staff development.
- Participate in nursing leadership committees and initiatives.
- Support the Organ Procurement Program as needed.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with healthcare team members.
- Address interdepartmental issues in collaboration with management.
- Engage in educational programs within and outside the institution.
- Assist in the timely implementation of new programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Engage in professional development activities to enhance personal and professional growth.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida, with a minimum of three years of experience in rehabilitation or medical-surgical nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a related field, along with Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) credentials, is preferred.
