Job Overview:
The Lead Automotive Technician Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal workflow and effective task allocation among the team of technicians. This position collaborates closely with the Service Manager to guarantee the highest quality of service on customer vehicles while enhancing overall shop productivity.
We seek technicians who are enthusiastic, positive, and committed to delivering exceptional service. The ideal candidates will possess a strong problem-solving mindset and a genuine passion for prioritizing customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the service department to allocate tasks to technicians.
- Oversee and manage individual workloads and the overall workflow within the service area.
- Guide the technician team in meeting internal training requirements and coach them for certification readiness.
- Train and mentor new technicians.
- Assist fellow technicians in diagnosing and repairing vehicles as needed.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations to monitor career progression and technician performance.
- Facilitate team-building activities for technicians.
- Educate the technician team on maintaining brand and quality standards to efficiently address customer concerns.
- Manage shop supplies and equipment effectively.
- Monitor fluid levels and shop efficiency through technician hours reports.
- Oversee housekeeping tasks to uphold safety, cleanliness, and organization standards.
- Manage technician schedules and enforce safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with the service department regarding customer concerns and assist in resolving complaints.
Qualifications:
- Positive attitude and a commitment to customer service.
- 7+ years of experience as an automotive technician.
- Exceptional automotive diagnostic abilities.
- Strong investment in personal tools.
- Ability to flag 30+ hours per week based on shop requirements.
- ASE A1-A8 Certifications required; Master L1 preferred.
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing various makes and models of vehicles.
- Aptitude for continuous learning and skill development.
- Professional appearance and excellent communication skills.
- Desire for long-term career advancement.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds.
- Ability to work with tools on vehicles elevated above head.
- Work in confined spaces as required by vehicle repairs.
- Demonstrate dexterity to effectively use hand tools.
- Stand or walk for the majority of the workday.
- Drive manual transmission vehicles.
- Proficiently navigate a computer.
