Role Overview

This position focuses on supporting physicians and staff in the outpatient clinic environment. The primary duties of the Physician Support Specialist include:

  • Providing direct assistance to clinical staff.
  • Identifying and resolving workflow challenges.
  • Recognizing opportunities for process optimization.
  • Facilitating the onboarding of new healthcare providers.
  • Assisting clinicians in customizing their Epic system setup.
  • Creating documentation such as note templates and troubleshooting technology-related issues.

This role also encompasses Tier II support for new and upgraded Clinical Information System applications that affect clinical workflows across all affiliated facilities.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Testing and validating workflows.
  • Developing user guides and supporting materials.
  • Assisting with training initiatives.
  • Communicating issues reported by stakeholders to the relevant application teams.

The Physician Support Specialist will gain expertise in both the Epic application and the specific workflows of El Camino Health, enabling them to understand decisions that impact end-users.

This individual will collaborate with training liaisons to identify workflow changes resulting from requests, updates, and system releases, ensuring effective communication of these changes to all relevant parties.


Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • A minimum of two years of college education or equivalent training.
  • A Bachelor's degree in education, organizational development, nursing, business, healthcare administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in an ambulatory clinic setting, including direct patient care, patient registration and scheduling, or technical support for clinical staff, along with the ability to build relationships with physicians.
  • Prior experience with clinical systems, particularly EMR or Epic, is preferred.
  • Clinical or technical expertise relevant to the assigned application is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary personnel.
  • Capability to work independently and interact positively with all levels of staff and physicians.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A valid healthcare certification or licensure.
  • A valid driver's license.

Compensation

Salary Range: $76.26 USD per hour
