Position Overview

As a STEM Program Facilitator at Headfirst Summer Camps, you will guide young campers through engaging, pre-designed educational activities that emphasize collaboration and problem-solving in the realms of STEM and the arts. We equip you with comprehensive training, structured curricula, and all necessary materials to ensure a productive camp experience, while you bring your passion, commitment, and vibrant energy to the role.

Camper Age Group: 6-8 years old

Key Activities: collaborative team-building exercises, interactive games, educational field trips, expert-led workshops, scientific challenges, and creative art projects.

Weekly Themes: Topics may include Oceanography, Culinary Arts, Urban Planning, and Sports Science.

Work Schedule:

  • Active Season: Monday to Friday, 7:45 am – 3:30 pm
  • Pre-Season: Select weekends for training and preparation.

Compensation: $15 per hour

Additional Opportunities: Morning Extended Day (7:15 am arrival)

Responsibilities
  • Inspire and Engage Campers
    • Lead a group of 20 campers alongside a co-counselor through a structured daily schedule.
    • Deliver pre-established curricula for the Innovators, Inc. and Sprouting Scientist programs, fostering engagement during breaks.
    • Implement safety protocols regarding supervision, restroom use, emergency medications, and camper behavior management.
    • Facilitate morning meetings, group activities, free play, water activities, and curriculum-specific science and art projects.
    • Assist specialized staff during field trips and expert-led workshops.
    • Manage morning and afternoon carpool duties, warmly welcoming families and ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Support Camper Development
    • Work closely with campers to promote their emotional, physical, and social growth through hands-on exploration and age-appropriate activities.
  • Represent Headfirst
    • Act as a positive representative of the Headfirst brand to families and facility partners, demonstrating enthusiasm and helpfulness.
    • Contribute to the upkeep of the camp facility and community.
  • Be a Team Player
    • Punctually arrive for shifts, communicate any schedule changes, and demonstrate reliability as a team member.
    • Remain adaptable and willing to assist with other programs as needed.
  • Adapt to Challenges
    • Exhibit resilience and a proactive attitude, focusing on camper experience and team success through problem-solving.
    • Comply with the Headfirst cell phone policy by keeping devices powered down during shifts.
Qualifications
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work with young children, including sitting, standing, running, and climbing stairs throughout the day. Must be comfortable in outdoor environments and able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
