Med Surg 3 Unit Overview:
This unit specializes in General Surgery and operates on a full-time night shift basis. A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates, along with a new special differential for Med Surg.
The Med Surg 3 unit comprises 29 beds, catering to a diverse patient demographic that includes surgical, trauma, and various medical cases. Typical surgeries involve the neck to the abdomen, including gastrointestinal procedures such as colon and small bowel resections, cholecystectomies, and appendectomies. Additionally, we manage vascular surgeries, mastectomies, thyroidectomies, and maxillofacial operations. Patients may present with ostomies, nasogastric tubes, feeding tubes, and drains.
Trauma patients may have multiple injuries and require chest tubes, tracheostomies, or other drains but are stable enough for admission to a non-ICU/step-down medical-surgical floor. Our facility is recognized as a level 2 trauma center.
Role Responsibilities:
As a Charge Nurse, you will:
- Oversee the delivery of high-quality nursing care for patients across all age groups.
- Address operational matters during your shift.
- Provide clinical care as necessary based on patient census demands.
- Effectively communicate patient care updates, departmental concerns, and staff issues to relevant leadership.
- Act as a resource for guidance and support to nursing staff.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Required:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Experience:
At least one year of nursing experience in a hospital environment is required.
Licensure/Certification:
Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. BLS certification is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years of nursing experience in a hospital setting is preferred. A Bachelor's degree in nursing is advantageous. Advanced certification in a relevant specialty is also preferred. Demonstrated clinical competency is essential.
