Job Description:
  • Role Overview
    • This role involves performing bone density testing procedures adhering to radiation protection principles and local, state, and federal standards.
  • Key Responsibilities
    • Evaluate technical quality of Dexa Scan services while ensuring maximum patient care.
    • Responsible for successful technical continuity of care and education of Dexa Scan procedures to patients.
    • Demonstrate competency in knowledge of RIS/HIS modules appropriate to job responsibilities.
    • Assist in gathering, recording data, and serving as committee members for Radiology Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement program.
    • Ensure assigned area has necessary equipment and supplies available for use.
    • Practice safe protection for self and patients adhering to radiation protection and infection control guidelines.
    • Achieve excellent continuity of care for patients by accurately adhering to downtime procedures.
  • Physical and Sensory Requirements
    • Frequent use of fingers and hands for positioning, operating equipment.
    • Walking or standing for up to 8 hours per shift in 30-minute increments.
    • Pulling, pushing, and lifting patients up to 300 pounds with assistance.
    • Lifting and moving objects of up to 30 pounds.
    • Hearing as it relates to normal conversation.
    • Seeing as it relates to normal vision.
  • Education and Training
    • Graduate of an ARRT recognized education program or ARRT registered.
    • Must pass advanced DEXA registry within 1 year of hire date.
    • Acceptable registry by the ARRT or ISCD in DEXA Scan/Bone Density testing.
    • New Jersey staff must have current New Jersey State Radiologic Technologist License.
  • Experience and Certifications
    • At least 1 year experience as a Dexa Scan technologist preferred.
    • Ongoing training in department procedures required.
    • Current CPR certification needed.
    • History of computer usage experience required.
