Court Security and Service Officer
The Court Security and Service Officer is a full-time Civil Service role within the Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County. This position is responsible for executing legal documents such as warrants and subpoenas while ensuring the safety and security of court operations, facilities, and assets. Additional responsibilities include:


Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure security within court facilities, including courtrooms.
2. Serve and process various civil documents.
3. Locate individuals and deliver subpoenas or warrants.
4. Conduct administrative tasks as required.
5. Address complaints and take appropriate measures.
6. Maintain precise records and prepare necessary reports.
7. Notify individuals of court appearances.
8. Provide transportation services when necessary.
9. Execute arrests under the direction of a Judicial Officer.
10. Conduct searches and transport individuals upon arrest.
11. Perform various security-related functions.


The role involves exposure to potentially hazardous situations, necessitating a range of safety precautions. Close supervision is provided by a management-level supervisor who assigns cases and is consulted on complex or unusual matters.


Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a High School Diploma and have at least one year of experience in public contact roles. A valid Driver's License is required.


As part of the job duties, employees must complete and pass a firearms training course approved by the court within the initial six months of employment. Compliance is mandatory, as failure to do so may lead to disciplinary actions, including termination. Employees carrying firearms must obtain a State of Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit during the probationary period.

All employees of the Metropolitan Government must be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents within six months of employment.
