Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Managing and executing laboratory analyses in designated areas, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
- Employing analytical skills and professional insight to assess test outcomes, resolve intricate laboratory issues, and offer clinical guidance to healthcare colleagues.
- Guaranteeing the accuracy of results through the application and assessment of quality control measures, diligent equipment upkeep, and meticulous documentation.
- Conducting routine checks and maintenance on laboratory equipment, diagnosing and rectifying technical issues.
- Effectively utilizing laboratory information systems (LIS) and network resources.
- Completing a minimum of ten (10) continuing education hours annually or twenty (20) hours over two years.
- Providing mentorship, training, and competency evaluations for technical personnel. Overseeing the technical operations of the laboratory section, leading special initiatives, and acting as a technical advisor. Collaborating with management on staff assessments.
- Overseeing inventory management within the section, including ordering supplies for daily operations and collaborating on budgetary evaluations.
- Ensuring optimal use of resources (staff, equipment, supplies) to enhance efficiency while controlling costs and minimizing waste.
- Maintaining compliance with relevant regulatory standards specific to the laboratory section.
- Developing and updating standard operating procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
- Recognizing the boundaries of practice regarding medication handling and alerting licensed personnel when necessary.
Key Qualifications:
- Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree
- Certification as a Medical Technologist through recognized accrediting bodies
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in areas such as Chemistry, Blood Banking, Hematology, or Microbiology
- Proven track record of success in a laboratory environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a leadership role
