As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education to students with disabilities, ensuring they receive the support and accommodations they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Assess students' skills, adapt lessons, track progress, and implement IEPs to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Provide Instruction and Support: Teach socially acceptable behavior, employ positive behavioral support strategies, and provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with general education teachers, school administrators, and parents to ensure students receive comprehensive support.
- Maintain Accurate Records: Keep accurate and complete student records, prepare reports, and maintain professional competence through ongoing training and development.
- Master's Degree in Special Education: Possess a Master's degree in an approved program for special education.
- Certification and Experience: Hold a valid Permanent, Initial, or Professional Certification from the State of New York and have at least five years of experience working with students with multiple disabilities.
Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of New York offers a competitive salary range of $57,000 - $64,000 and a supportive work environment that values the well-being and growth of our educators.
