Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
- Execute the cleaning schedule for designated areas in accordance with specified frequency requirements.
- Ensure that all buildings and grounds, including walkways, driveways, and recreational areas, are maintained in a tidy and orderly condition at all times.
- Perform daily cleaning tasks in classrooms, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting furniture; wet-mop floors as necessary.
- Clean hallways and restrooms after school hours and during the day as needed.
- Maintain all flooring in a clean and appealing state; buff hallways bi-monthly, and strip and wax floors as required throughout the year.
- Sanitize restroom floors daily; clean all sanitary fixtures, classroom sinks, and drinking fountains each day.
- Empty waste receptacles and manage trash disposal on a daily basis.
- Keep outdoor areas free from litter and debris.
- Report significant repair needs to the designated authority promptly.
- Move furniture or equipment as needed for various school activities.
- Notify the appropriate personnel of any illegal activities such as vandalism or theft.
- Conduct regular inspections of the premises for safety hazards and report any concerns.
- Familiarize yourself with the custodial schedule for assigned areas and suggest improvements as necessary.
- Understand the cleaning chemicals and procedures utilized in maintaining the facility.
- Maintain a positive rapport with all staff, students, parents, and visitors.
- Perform additional maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Carry out general landscaping duties, including mowing, trimming, and pruning as directed.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishments as needed.
- Adjust work hours based on situational requirements as determined by the supervisor.
- Keep accurate records, including time sheets, and ensure that overtime is pre-approved.
- Exhibit punctuality and reliability, maintaining a professional appearance.
- Adhere to the policies set forth by the Alabama Department of Education.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Background checks are mandatory.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Capacity to adapt to new and evolving situations.
- Maintain a neat appearance and adhere to dress code standards.
- Capability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.
- Must be in good physical condition and able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Proficient in operating and maintaining cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.
Performance Evaluation:
- Job performance will be assessed in accordance with the established evaluation policies.
Compensation:
- Salary is determined based on the approved salary schedule, taking into account rank, certification, and experience.
- Actual salary will be confirmed upon verification of experience.
