Job ResponsibilitiesThe Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for:
- Conducting Nuclear Medicine examinations in accordance with established protocols.
- Administering pharmaceutical-grade radioactive materials to patients as per regulatory guidelines.
- Implementing safety measures for radioactive materials to protect patients and staff.
- Providing clear explanations of procedures to patients prior to examinations.
- Demonstrating proficiency with Nuclear Medicine equipment, including Spect Cameras and PET.
- Coordinating with physicians for procedures requiring medication administration.
- Maintaining departmental functions through quality control checks.
- Documenting all necessary information regarding radioactive materials.
- Conducting surveys and documenting findings in work areas and storage locations.
- Entering procedure charges into patient accounts promptly.
- Coordinating outpatient examinations with assigned physicians.
- Ensuring availability of necessary radioactive materials and supplies for scheduled procedures.
- Adhering to policies regarding infection control and radiation safety.
- Collaborating with the Radiation Safety Officer to uphold quality assurance standards.
- Performing additional duties as required to support departmental operations.
Education and Experience:
- Associate Degree and completion of a Nuclear Medicine Program (NMTCB) and/or ARRT (N).
- Preferred: At least one year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine Technology (ARRT (N)) or as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) through the NMTCB.
- State certification as a Radiological Technologist or Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT).
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification as per St. David's HealthCare policy.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
