Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages, including geriatric, adult, children, and infants, while adhering to phlebotomy standards.
  • Process and prepare specimens for routine tests, including urinalysis, hematology, and clinical chemistry, under the supervision of a qualified Medical Technologist.
  • Perform technical duties, such as cleaning equipment, maintaining inventory, and assisting with faxes and reports, as needed.
  • Assist with clerical and administrative tasks, including answering calls, making reports, and meeting departmental needs.
  • Receive and label patient test specimens, generating barcode labels as required.
  • Participate in additional departmental, organizational, or network activities to meet established objectives.
  • Embody the PCC Organizational Values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence in all aspects of your work.
Qualifications and Experience
  • High School diploma required; one year of clinical internship or on-the-job training in a clinical or hospital laboratory is also required.
  • One to two years of phlebotomy experience is preferred.
Licensure and Skills
  • Phlebotomy course training in a State-approved institution is required.
  • Computer proficiency is essential, with a preference for Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new software.
  • Knowledge of LIS, computer, keyboard, and MS Windows is required.
  • Certification in Phlebotomy is preferred, as is highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations.
