Job Summary

As a Clinical Nursing Assistant at MaineHealth, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in our stepdown unit. This unit specializes in housing cardiothoracic surgery patients, patients awaiting surgery, or those recovering from surgery. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse and perform various service duties and technical tasks, such as taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take vital signs and perform technical tasks as assigned by the Registered Professional Nurse
  • Assist patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families
  • Participate in continuing education relative to the role as defined
  • Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant by the State of Maine and be on the State of Maine Registry
Requirements
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to follow oral or written instructions and complete standard forms
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain courteous relationships with patients, families, visitors, and Maine Medical Center employees
  • Knowledge of standards, policies, procedures, and organizational structure of the unit, the Department of Nursing, and Maine Medical Center
