Morehouse College is seeking a dedicated individual to serve as the Academic Liaison for its Higher Education in Prisons Program. This full-time faculty position involves supporting the program through teaching, academic advisement, faculty training, student mentorship, and supervision of day-to-day operations.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will serve as the primary liaison between the program at Morehouse College and its students, as well as staff inside the Federal Correctional Institution in Atlanta. They will be responsible for maintaining a thorough understanding of the Morehouse student body at the FCI and acting as the principal liaison between students and the program administration.
In this role, you will also assist with recruitment and enrollment of scholars, manage clearances and mandatory training for affiliated faculty and students, and ensure that classes and activities run smoothly. Additionally, you will supervise and mentor AYC-HEP faculty affiliates, develop working relationships with FCI administration and staff, and maintain day-to-day communications for general program operations.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD or equivalent degree, experience teaching in prisons, and excellent organizational skills. They should also possess strong communication and leadership abilities, as well as a high level of organization and close communication with colleagues.
Responsibilities- Maintain a thorough understanding of the Morehouse student body at the FCI and act as the principal liaison between students and the program administration.
- Assist with recruitment and enrollment of scholars.
- Manage clearances and mandatory training for affiliated faculty and students.
- Ensure that classes and activities run smoothly.
- Supervise and mentor AYC-HEP faculty affiliates.

- Maintain day-to-day communications for general program operations.
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- A PhD or equivalent degree.
- Experience teaching in prisons.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
This full-time 12-month position offers a competitive salary range of $67,500-$70,000, plus fringe benefits. The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal. You will have the opportunity to teach at least one course per year at the FCI and contribute to the growth and development of the Higher Education in Prisons Program at Morehouse College.
