Position Overview
The Arlington T&D Substation team is in search of a skilled engineer to take on the role of Project Lead within our PEPCO client team. This position is centered around spearheading the engineering design execution of a variety of substation projects, which encompass brownfield stations, equipment replacements, relay upgrades, feasibility studies, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safety-first approach during site visits, throughout design, and during construction support.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for coordination with our internal team, addressing all facets of engineering design activities for assigned projects.
  • Oversee all aspects of Substation design (Physical, P&C, and Civil), collaborating across multiple disciplines and global practices as necessary.
  • Manage quality control and processes for design packages submitted to the client and dispatched to the field for construction.
  • Collaborate with the team to enhance skills and technical proficiency.
  • Regularly track and report on progress, engineering hours, schedule metrics, design inquiries, potential impacts, and any issues needing support or adjustments to project scope.
  • Coordinate with the client Team Lead to identify team needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Deliver timely and accurate responses to client inquiries and concerns.
  • Oversee the development of proposals and estimates for opportunities the team is pursuing, including project budget formulation.
  • Maintain and update project budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and coordinate execution plans for internal work.
  • Lead weekly engineering calls with internal teams and provide updates during client meetings.
  • Facilitate coordination of design activities with other departments, regional offices, and subcontractors as required.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other engineers and designers as needed.
  • Travel for site visits, team meetings, client meetings for project reviews, business development, and other activities as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in substation design.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification is required.
  • Familiarity with ECOSYS project setup, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience leading cross-discipline T&D projects and engaging directly with external clients.
  • Relevant professional experience in T&D or other GPs that provide designs in the 13kV-345kV voltage classes is preferred.
  • Strong passion for developing skills in project management, engineering execution, business development, and team development.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to create designs with minimal client-defined standards or requirements.
  • Ability to tackle complex problems that necessitate adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures, and criteria.
