Position Overview:
The Large Equipment Service Technician is tasked with executing fundamental repairs, conducting preventive maintenance, performing pre-delivery inspections (PDI), and facilitating the deployment of machinery within the rental fleet.
The range of equipment serviced may encompass earth-moving machinery, aerial lifts, landscaping tools, material handling devices, and more.This technician is responsible for the routine preventive maintenance of equipment to guarantee it remains in optimal rental condition, thereby minimizing the likelihood of malfunctions on job sites.

Key Duties:
- 10% Administrative Tasks: Document all performed work using tablet technology, including completion of work orders to track parts usage and labor, conducting parts inventory counts, etc.; Verify GPS units on equipment, ensuring they are activated and functioning correctly, and collaborate with the IT team for troubleshooting as necessary; Retrieve equipment from job sites when required.
- 20% Conduct Inspections: Execute aerial lift inspections in accordance with the mandated checklist; Clean equipment and trailers.
- 30% Perform Preventive Maintenance and Pre-Delivery Inspections: Carry out preventive maintenance (PMs) on equipment following the designated schedule/maintenance intervals; Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) on equipment and trailers to confirm rental readiness before deployment.
- 30% Troubleshooting and Repairs: Engage in troubleshooting and repairs on small engines, including fuel systems, oil and air filtration systems, ignition systems, etc.; Change wheels, tracks, and tires on machines and trailers; Perform maintenance and repairs on trailers.
- 10% Safety Protocol: Adhere to shop safety protocols, including proper storage of supplies and fuel, appropriate disposal of waste oils and fluids, and safe lifting and moving of materials and equipment; Operate forklifts safely to load, unload, and transport equipment and materials within the shop and yard.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Rental Regional Manager.
This role has no direct reports.
Travel Expectations:
Typically involves overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Demands:
Must consistently stand or walk and regularly lift/handle/carry materials or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
Work Environment:
Generally situated in a comfortable setting but with regular exposure to elements such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accidents or illness.
