Job Summary

GLG is seeking a skilled Data Librarian to join our Data Operations team. As a Data Librarian, you will be responsible for identifying, building, and maintaining taxonomies and associated metadata that enable our powerful search capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement taxonomies and metadata systems to support data search and retrieval.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and develop solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Analyze data usage patterns to identify areas for improvement and develop data solutions to address these issues.
  • Develop and maintain processes for data cleaning and creation, including training and monitoring offshore resources.
Requirements
  • At least two years of experience defining, building, or maintaining taxonomies or ontologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science (MLS) from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program, or Bachelor's degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics.
  • Relevant work experience with data analysis, collection development, discovery services, electronic resources management, or technical services in an academic or public library.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Python or SQL.
  • Experience with taxonomy tools like Synaptica, Smartlogic Semaphore, or Pool Party.
  • Implementing natural language processing (NLP) and/or large language model (LLM) data projects.
