About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Underwater Sensors Engineer to join our team at MITRE. As a technical lead, you will be responsible for leading teams of engineers to solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical development and communicate results with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Independently develop and implement technical solutions to complex problems.
  • Assist the department leadership team with workforce development, program support, and emerging technology awareness.
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap and evolve the BlueTech vision.
Requirements
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Proactive self-starter with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical background with experience in one or more of the following: acoustic, radar, and/or sonar signal processing, algorithm development, detection and estimation theory, wave propagation, numerical methods, experimental data analysis, prototype development, and/or communication theory.
  • Experience using analytical software tools such as MATLAB or Python for modeling, simulation, and analysis of physical systems.
  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Subject matter expertise in acoustic, radar, and sonar signal processing, and prototype development.
  • Experience with field testing of maritime devices.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships with internal and external parties.
  • Experience with US government systems and US government research ecosystem.
  • Possess an external network of government sponsors and contacts.
