Job Overview:
Service is the cornerstone of our values at Vail Resorts, and our Mountain Safety Officers play a crucial role in ensuring this exceptional experience. Responsible for the safety and security of both staff and guests on the mountain, Mountain Safety Officers are vigilant and reliable professionals dedicated to prevention while remaining composed in emergencies.
Job Specifications:
- Expected Pay Rate: $23.26 / hour
- Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time
- Required Certification Level: EMT
- Required Ski Level: Expert
- Expert Ski Level only
- Other Specifics: Patrol members are expected to perform a variety of tasks across all terrains and weather conditions. Candidates must successfully pass an expert level ski patrol test upon hire.
- Other Job Specifications:
- Availability to work weekends and holidays.
- Completion of a four-week Pass/Fail ski patrol training program.
- Oversee and enhance guest safety across diverse terrains and changing winter weather conditions.
- Assist injured or ill guests on the mountain and provide first aid.
- Facilitate the transportation of injured guests off the mountain using a toboggan or support airlift operations.
- Maintain trails, including hazard identification and establishing closures and safety measures, along with other impacts from the resort environment.
- Transport supplies and heavy equipment to areas of need on skis or snowboard.
- Execute closing procedures at the end of the day to ensure all guests are safely off the mountain.
- Enforce the Skier Responsibility Code and Resort Policies.
- Chairlift and guest evacuation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Pass the resort's Ski Patrol sponsored ski test.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Demonstrated excellent guest service skills.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions in a mountain environment.
