Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist with CAMC Health System, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patient illness by performing diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures. Your expertise will be essential in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures, ensuring accurate and efficient results.
  • Collaborate with patients to prepare them for procedures, immobilize and position them, and determine radiographic technique exposure factors.
  • Evaluate radiographs or images for technical quality and apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, yourself, and others.
  • Assume responsibility for the physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures, providing education and support as needed.
  • Practice aseptic technique and perform venipunctures as necessary, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, identify, and administer contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, in accordance with state statutes and institutional policies.
  • Verify informed consent for and assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic procedures and specialized interventional radiography procedures.
  • Initiate basic life support actions when necessary and provide practical instruction for students and/or other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform safety, warm-up, and quality control checks for all imaging rooms and equipment, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the department's quality assessment and improvement plan, contributing to the maintenance of high-quality patient care.
  • Assist in maintaining records, respecting confidentiality and established policies, and maintain inventory and order supplies for the assigned area, as necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of and observe Universal precautions, pursuing ongoing continuing education to stay current in the field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The Diagnostic Imaging Technologist must possess and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care, as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically, the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in:

  • Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs.
  • Knowledge of growth and development.
  • Understanding of the range of treatment needed by patients.
Education
  • Formalized Training: None required.
Credentials
  • Radiologic Technologist, License (Required).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
Work Schedule:

Evenings.

Full-time Regular.
