Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist at CAMC Health System, you will be accountable for the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures as required by the Medical Staff in the diagnosis and/or treatment of patient illness.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures, ensuring accurate and high-quality images.
  • Corroborate patient clinical history, prepare patients for procedures, and provide physical and psychological support during imaging processes.
  • Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Assume responsibility for the provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures, providing patient education and support.
  • Practice aseptic technique and perform venipunctures as necessary, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, identify, and administer contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, in accordance with state statutes and institutional policies.
  • Verify informed consent for and assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic procedures and specialized interventional radiography procedures.
  • Initiate basic life support actions when necessary, providing emergency care and support.
  • Provide practical instruction for students and/or other healthcare professionals, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Perform safety, warm-up, and quality control checks for all imaging rooms and equipment, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the department's quality assessment and improvement plan, contributing to the development and implementation of quality control measures.
  • Maintain accurate records, respecting confidentiality and established policies, and assist in maintaining inventory and ordering supplies for the assigned area.
  • Pursue ongoing continuing education, staying up-to-date with the latest imaging technologies and techniques.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge: The Diagnostic Imaging Technologist must possess and demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.

Specifically, the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patient.

Common Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain and document all applicable required information, demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker interactions, comply with the company's attendance policy, participate in continuous quality improvement activities, perform work in a cost-effective manner, and adhere to departmental pay practices and scheduling policies.
