Job Title: Part-time Literacy Coach

At Alexandria City Public Schools, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Part-time Literacy Coach to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Part-time Literacy Coach will provide individualized and small group reading and writing instruction to Adult Education students. The successful candidate will help students improve their literacy skills, using an array of teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate students' reading abilities and identify areas for improvement
  • Develop individualized learning plans based on students' literacy needs
  • Teach reading and writing skills using various teaching methods
  • Monitor students' progress and adjust instructional techniques as necessary
  • Provide feedback to students and their teachers about progress and areas for improvement
  • Prepare educational materials and resources to aid in instruction
  • Keep records of student's performance and attendance
  • Collaborate with teachers and other educational professionals to develop strategies to assist struggling students
  • Encourage students and provide emotional support to build confidence in their reading and writing abilities

Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field. Experience in teaching Language Arts courses to include reading and writing experience. Knowledge of best practices and instructional strategies in literacy and methods to evaluate students.

  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test

Salary and Benefits:

Hourly: $30.00

Hours: 2 days per week, 6-8 hours per week
