Job Overview

Summary

The role involves overseeing the approval, closing, and servicing aspects of all mortgage loan files. The focus is on serving our members by promoting responsible borrowing and saving practices while being attuned to their financial needs and raising awareness of all credit union services available to both new and existing members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits of loan files post-closing to ensure compliance and support future business growth.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of audit and business procedures and checklists.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of member information is upheld.
  • Provide exceptional service to third-party agencies, members, and colleagues by managing documentation needs for pre, post, and closing loan processes.
  • Review mortgage files submitted in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Issue loan commitments and denial notifications within a 30-day timeframe following applications.
  • Ensure all underwriting requirements are satisfied for post-closing and verify that a clear title insurance policy has been obtained.
  • Assist with government HMDA filings, tracking, and reporting.
  • Prepare mortgage loan payoff quotes in-house.
  • Stay informed about changes in secondary market guidelines.
  • Package closed loan files for sale to the secondary market following their specifications.
  • Balance mortgage loan clearing general ledgers on a daily basis.
  • Reconcile custodial escrow and funding checking accounts for mortgage loans daily.
  • Assist in preparing in-house mortgage loan payoff quotes.
  • Book and fund closed mortgage loans efficiently.
  • Track closed loan documents, including final title policies, insurance, and Deeds of Trusts.
  • Prepare Deeds of Reconveyance for all paid and refinanced loans.
  • Acquire knowledge to provide backup support in loan servicing and processing areas.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the data processing system and departmental software.
  • Address member inquiries regarding their mortgage loans.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all mortgage loan servicing requirements and guidelines to ensure compliance.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Actively promote a culture of sales and service by communicating the benefits and features of all products and services to members.
  • Gain insights into competitors' products and services while continuously seeking to enhance the quality of services and products offered by the credit union.
  • Complete in-house training as required for this position.
  • Assist in various areas as directed by management.

Job Requirements

  • Possess professional interpersonal skills essential for effectively serving credit union members in person or via phone, while projecting a positive image.
  • Have a general understanding of mortgage lending regulations related to FHA, VA, and Conventional loans.
  • Exhibit a high degree of accuracy with intermediate mathematical skills, including calculations involving decimals, percentages, and fractions.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving abilities that require judgment to apply broader aspects of established practices to unique situations.
