**Overview of the Role**

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Account Development Specialist to join our team at Tompkins Community Bank. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and expanding our commercial lines department by acquiring new accounts and retaining existing ones.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Solicit and service commercial insurance customers to meet their needs and exceed their expectations.
  • Sell new and renewal accounts to achieve agency and individual goals.
  • Renew existing books of business to meet or exceed retention targets and create cross-selling opportunities.
  • Identify referral opportunities for affiliates and provide field services in support of sales duties.
  • Facilitate and manage individual claims as appropriate.
  • Develop prospects through direct solicitation programs, referrals, and other contacts.
  • Prepare and present proposals to prospective clients while adhering to agency policies and procedures.
  • Conduct quoting processes in accordance with agency-defined policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Identify account rounding and up-selling opportunities and process them accordingly.
  • Maintain a focus on timeliness and completeness when interacting with clients, the agency, and company personnel to minimize potential E&O claims.

**Ancillary Duties**

  • Participate in local community organizations and events to market the agency and build relationships.
  • Actively engage in community activities that reflect positively on the agency.
  • Develop a presence in the community through networking with local leaders and businesses.
  • Comply with current laws and organizational policies to promote a harassment-free and inclusive work environment.
  • Collaborate with and support adherence to internal policies, procedures, and practices related to compliance and regulatory requirements.

**Qualifications and Requirements**

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a similar position is desirable; must be licensed according to NY/PA state requirements.
  • Demonstrated effective presentation skills through verbal and written communication.
  • Working knowledge of commercial line account policies and procedures; moderate computer skills, including familiarity with online data systems.
  • Valid and acceptable driver's license required.
  • Assertive and self-motivated individual with the ability to influence others.

**Salary:** $50,000 - $100,000 per annum.
