About the Job

College Information Security Officer

Vets Hired is seeking a highly skilled and experienced College Information Security Officer to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust information security program to protect our college and VCCS infrastructure from external and internal threats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Maintain Information Security Program: Create and implement a comprehensive information security program that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Perform regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential security threats to our systems and data.
  • Provide Leadership and Vision: Offer guidance and leadership to develop and support privacy practices that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data.
  • Maintain and Develop Policies and Procedures: Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and SLAs associated with our IT security program.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure that our IT security program complies with federal, state, local, NVCC, and VCCS laws, rules, and regulations.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Certification: Possess knowledge or certification equivalent to Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both orally and in writing, to articulate complex security issues and persuade others to recommended solutions.
  • Organizational Skills: Exhibit excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership and Technical Skills: Possess the ability to lead the work of others, develop, coach, and counsel subordinate employees, and identify and resolve complex technical issues.
