Position Overview: Budget Analyst II

The Budget Analyst II plays a vital role in ensuring the financial integrity of the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine by meticulously reviewing budget proposals for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established guidelines and regulations. This position involves analyzing financial reports and budgetary data.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts thorough reviews of accounting records and financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
  2. Provides management with detailed financial insights regarding assigned units.
  3. Develops and maintains budgets, generating periodic reports that compare projected revenues and expenditures to actual figures.
  4. Interprets budgetary directives and ensures adherence to them.
  5. Classifies, records, and summarizes financial data to maintain accurate financial records using various accounting tools.
  6. Prepares essential financial documents, including purchase orders, expense reports, and budget transfers.
  7. Compiles and organizes budget data based on projected revenues and expenses, as well as historical budgets.
  8. Reviews operational budgets to identify trends that may impact budgetary requirements and implements corrective measures as necessary.
  9. Analyzes monthly financial reports to maintain control over expenditures.
  10. Offers guidance and technical support in areas such as cost analysis, fiscal allocation, and budget preparation.
  11. Summarizes budget proposals and submits recommendations for fund requests.
  12. Handles accounting functions related to grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with sponsor policies and procedures.
  13. Seeks innovative methods to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve profitability.
  14. Facilitates training for faculty and staff on financial systems, including the preparation of training materials and conducting sessions.
  15. Completes special projects as assigned.
  16. Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in accounting or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in an academic environment is advantageous.
