Job Title: Community Service Aide

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Community Service Aide to join our team at Cameron County. As a Community Service Aide, you will provide essential support to our WIC program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide reception duties, including greeting clients, answering phones, and explaining procedures.
  • Perform various tasks as needed and directed by the Clinic Supervisor or designee, including clerical duties, income screening, certification duties, lab procedures, and presenting lessons to participants.
  • Screen income and residency to assess eligibility for applicants using WIC policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of Department of State Health Services and WIC immunization policies and procedures and refer clients when deemed necessary.
  • Conduct basic group nutrition education classes for women, infants, and children.
  • Input data, schedule appointments, and issue benefits using the current TXIN computer system.
  • Support and promote breastfeeding activities.
  • Perform participant home visits as specified by the Clinic Supervisor or designee.
  • Travel and work in other clinic sites as deemed necessary.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are primarily in a clinic, office, or community center. This is not a Civil Service covered position.
