Job Summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to join our team. As a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, you will play a vital role in evaluating and screening patients to determine their therapeutic recreational needs. You will establish long and short-term goals, develop individualized treatment plans, and administer treatment interventions to meet each patient's specific needs.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and screen patients to determine therapeutic recreational needs, identify strengths and deficits, and establish long and short-term goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate patient and family needs.
  • Administer treatment interventions to meet each patient's specific needs and achieve their goals.
  • Document patients' evaluation results, objective status, progress towards goals, treatment plan, and recommendations.
  • Educate patient and family on each child's treatment goals and therapy plan.
  • Recommend and secure patient referrals to community agencies to ensure continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited school.
  • Certification as a Therapeutic Specialist through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.
  • One year experience as a CTRS preferred or clinical affiliation in pediatrics.

Working Conditions

This is a contingent/prn/on-call opportunity. The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to lift/carry up to 60 lbs, push/pull up to 60 lbs, and stand/walk for extended periods.
