As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely operating a refuse collection vehicle on pre-assigned and special routes to collect garbage, yard waste, or recycling.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely drive a front-end, side, rear-end, or roll off loading refuse truck, observing legal and defensive driving practices.
  • Collect and dump garbage and refuse into refuse trucks while covering a designated route in a residential zone.
  • Unload refuse trucks at the landfill, transfer station, or similar facility.
  • Provide excellent customer service by being courteous and expeditious in all aspects of refuse operation.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude towards company, customer, and municipal goals.
  • Ensure garbage and recyclables at residences are picked up and transferred properly.
  • Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections as set forth by Waste Pro procedures and D.O.T. guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean truck and wash the exterior weekly.
Requirements:
  • Must have a Class A or B CDL valid for the state in which the position works.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices.
  • Must be able to speak and read English well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers, dispatch, and supervisors.
  • Must be physically able to push or pull independently (unassisted) 50 pounds between 800 and 1000 times a day.
  • Must be physically able to lift independently (unassisted) 50 pounds from the ground to waist height between 800 and 1000 times a day.
  • Must be physically able to get up and down from the cab of a commercial motor vehicle between 800 and 1000 times a day.
  • Must be physically able to bend at the waist and knees between 800 and 1000 times a day.
  • Must be physically able to work 8 to 12 hours in extreme weather conditions.

  • Works in a variety of environment conditions, including wide temperature and weather variations.
