The Child Psychiatrist will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the treatment of clients with psychiatric and related skills. This position may provide services within one or more Wheeler Clinic programs, with a focus on delivering high-quality care to clients of all ages.
Key Responsibilities- Conducts program-specific screening and evaluation, formulating diagnoses in accordance with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM).
- Develops and documents clear clinical formulations and treatment plans, individualized and measurable, in collaboration with clients and families.
- Demonstrates knowledge of psychopathology and primary modalities of psychotherapeutic intervention, triaging clinical emergencies and implementing program-specific safety and consultation protocols.
- Makes clinically appropriate referrals for identified service needs in a timely manner, identifying potential risk factors and taking measures to reduce those risks in the milieu.
- Communicates effectively with clients, families, and internal and external providers, attending required meetings and adhering to practice standards, data collection, and reporting protocols.
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine with relevant Board Certification or Board eligibility by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
- Licensed physician in the State of Connecticut, with active DEA controlled substance registration and an active Connecticut controlled substance registration.
