Job Overview

Ameri-Force is seeking a highly skilled Pipefitter to join our team. As a Pipefitter, you will be responsible for performing layout, fabrication, installation, testing, and repair of pipe systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs layout, fabrication, installation, testing, and repair of pipe systems
  • Fits pipe and prepares joints for welding to meet specific system requirements
  • Works from blueprints and creates fabrication sketches for other mechanics
  • Lays out and figures offset bends and rolling offset bends
  • Makes up flanges and sets up burning torches
  • Reads blueprints and drawings related to the job
  • Tests piping systems with air and water
  • Conducts actions and work behaviors according to safe shipyard practices
  • Tack welds, silver brazes, soft solders, and burns
  • Installs simple systems without blueprints
  • Works with all materials and sizes of pipe and tubing
  • Lays out all piping systems
  • Runs pipe bending machines
  • Evaluates joint allowances and builds piping systems within required tolerances
  • Constructs dimensionally correct mock-ups for off-site prefabrication
  • Works with all types of pipe joints and materials
  • Able to properly use hand tools and power tools associated with the trade
  • Trains insubordinates and supervises crew as senior mechanic
  • Adheres to industry codes, specifications, and regulations
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years minimum in shipboard pipefitting experience
  • Technical training preferred
  • Knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and instruments associated with the Pipefitting trade
  • Leader's knowledge in troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to work effectively with others
  • Comprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates
  • Enter and move through manholes to reach and work internally confined spaces
  • Must be a steady, reliable worker
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow instructions
