Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate, execute, and uphold underwriting standards while fostering profitable partnerships with independent agents.
- Oversee and manage commercial lines underwriting, including sales personnel, to cultivate a profitable business volume with a focus on ensuring adequate submission flow.
- Collaborate with Underwriting and Actuarial teams on product line assessments and pricing evaluations.
- Develop individual growth plans for direct reports and team members.
- Maintain a robust local presence in our markets and nurture positive agency relationships.
- Ensure compliance with established standards and underwriting guidelines, implementing corrective measures when necessary.
- Identify and document business challenges, proposing alternative solutions to enhance workflows.
- Conduct quality assessments for proper documentation and provide coaching to team members as needed.
- Stay informed about industry regulations and engage in ongoing education within the field.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in insurance or a related discipline is essential.
- 3-7 years of experience in commercial lines management and/or marketing or equivalent industry experience is required.
- Proven ability to mentor and lead teams effectively.
- Strong communication skills to interact with all levels of personnel and management.
- Analytical skills with the capacity to gather data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
- Strong interpersonal abilities to maintain professional relationships with colleagues, agency contacts, and the public.
- Commitment to ongoing education through participation in industry-sponsored and company-sponsored training programs.
