Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Systems Technician to join our team at Navy Federal Credit Union. As an Electrical Systems Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, analyzing, and maintaining electrical systems and cables, as well as installing new systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and analyze electrical systems and cables to identify potential issues and recommend repairs or replacements
  • Install new electrical systems and equipment, including cable placement, termination, testing, labeling, and documentation
  • Research and troubleshoot system problems or maintenance needs, referring to operation, maintenance, and repair manuals, and system schematics
  • Assist with scheduling and supervising Life Safety inspections, including FM 200 systems, Pre-Action systems, Kitchen Hood suppression systems, Dry and Wet piping systems, pumps, and other associated components and devices
  • Participate in the procurement of equipment and assist in researching and documenting compliance with Navy Federal, local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines pertaining to electrical systems
  • Maintain knowledge of electrical, fire, and building codes, and EPA, ADA, and OSHA laws and regulations
  • Coordinate with the Supervisor to develop preventive maintenance schedules and assist with in-house and contracted Life Safety Systems projects
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to personnel within the Facility Management Division, Physical Security Branch, and Information Services Division
  • Assist in reviewing technical documentation/blueprints for technical accuracy, constructability, and compatibility with existing systems and equipment
  • Work closely with various levels of Navy Federal employees, contractors, vendors, to ensure scheduled completion of projects and to resolve problems
  • Assist the Safety Officer in administering Life Safety - Emergency Evacuation/Fire Drills, Fire Extinguisher Maintenance, Fire Alarm System - Fire Marshall Occupancy Inspections, and Annual Testing
  • Reports findings of each inspection, and follow up on corrective action and with Elevator Inspections and Bi-Annual testing of Fire Recall and Emergency Power
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of electronics
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Minimum of 2 years of documented working experience in the electrical or electronics field
  • Successful completion of the Apprenticeship Program for electricians or formal training equivalent
  • Knowledge of the tools, mathematics, codes, materials, and safety regulations associated with the electrical trade
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to gain the cooperation of others
  • Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work off ladders at above head levels
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Must possess a driver's license
  • Must obtain NICET level 1 certification within one year of hire date
Work Environment

This position requires a physical and demanding work environment, with a high level of agility to bend, reach, stoop, climb, and work in uncomfortable positions. The work may be performed inside or outside, and may be dirty, dusty, greasy, or noisy.
