Job Title: Certified Firefighter/Paramedic

Job Summary:

This is a technical work position in the field of emergency response, involving the application of emergency medical care, fire prevention, control, and suppression, as well as response to natural and human-made disasters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine station tasks to maintain operational readiness, including inspecting and testing equipment, supplies, and materials, and participating in ongoing training on equipment and protocols.
  • Respond to emergency scenes, natural disasters, or other critical incidents, including hazardous materials spills, automotive accidents, building collapses, and weapons of mass destruction.
  • Perform fire prevention activities, including pre-incident planning, inspecting fire hydrants, and establishing hydrant/hose connections.
  • Provide emergency medical care, including administering basic and advanced life support, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and assessing patient conditions.
  • Participate in post-incident analysis and quality assurance activities.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a State of Florida Firefighter II certificate and a State of Florida Paramedic license.
  • Must have completed and passed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and the swim test.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver's license and a certified driving history for every state in which a driver's license was held within the last 10 years.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and be willing to work in a physically demanding environment with potential exposure to occupational health hazards.

Selection Process:
