About the Role:
The Pharmacy Technician I Certified will assist with all phases of pharmacy services and perform a variety of clinical functions and dispensing tasks in support of the daily workflow of the UofL Health Specialty Pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care, including conducting medication adherence and refill calls to patients, communicating with provider offices and in-network pharmacies, and gathering clinical information on patients.
- Screen phone calls/orders and alert pharmacists to patient-specific needs, and provide accurate and pertinent clinical documentation in the appropriate pharmacy IT application system.
- Alert pharmacists to any adverse drug events, labs, or needs of the patient requiring clinical judgment and prescriber intervention, and receive and accurately read, interpret, and enter medication orders in the system.
- Collaborate with medication access coordinators regarding authorization processes, co-pays, patient assistance programs, and foundation support, and package, label, and prepare final product for shipping in accordance with pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Perform duties in documented accordance with requirements of all regulatory and governing bodies, and perform insurance billing and administrative support functions.
- Assist in procurement, receipt, and proper storage of drugs and general supplies, and maintain appropriate stock levels within the work area and routinely manage specialty pharmacy inventory.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Registered as a pharmacy technician with the Commonwealth of Kentucky
- PTCB national certification
- 2+ years of pharmacy experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior Specialty Pharmacy experience
