Position Overview
The City of Pittsburgh is seeking a Staff Engineer to play a crucial role in the planning, design, and oversight of various construction projects. This position involves managing both simple and complex, multi-disciplinary City Capital projects within specialized areas such as structures, streets, trails, and traffic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the coordination and management of construction projects, ensuring adherence to design specifications and project timelines.
- Conduct engineering calculations and designs for various project components.
- Oversee and direct the work of junior engineers and technical staff, ensuring quality and compliance with project standards.
- Prepare necessary documentation including Requests for Proposals (RFPs), bid documents, and contracts for project implementation.
- Review and assess reports and studies from team members to monitor project progress and address any arising issues.
- Engage with representatives from governmental agencies, consultants, and contractors to facilitate project development and resolve challenges.
- Ensure all project activities comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports as required.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. While no prior work experience is mandatory, an internship in Civil Engineering is preferred. Candidates must also hold a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License and comply with the City’s residency and COVID-19 vaccination requirements.
