MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education level must align with federal, state, and local guidelines; certification as mandated by the Professional Standards Commission. An Associate or Bachelor's Degree, or successful completion of the GACE Ethics Assessment and GACE Paraprofessional Assessment is required.
GOAL: To provide essential support to the classroom teacher in delivering educational opportunities for every student.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Implement appropriate instructional strategies and techniques as directed by relevant personnel to enhance learning.
2. Offer assistance to designated students in resource, self-contained, and/or standard classroom environments.
3. Adhere to all elements of plans or accommodations as specified by the IEP, behavior plan, healthcare plan, etc.
4. Perform specialized duties to meet the unique needs of specific student populations, including physical assistance and behavior management techniques.
5. Support students and teachers in utilizing hardware, software, and other technology, including assistive technology.
6. Provide ongoing feedback to relevant personnel regarding student performance and any issues affecting their progress.
7. Conduct small group or individual classroom activities based on lesson plans developed by the teacher.
8. Assist with student assessments, grading assignments, and collecting data on student progress.
9. Support routine recordkeeping as directed by appropriate personnel.
10. Aid in the preparation of instructional materials, including copying, constructing displays, and setting up learning centers.
11. Locate, operate, and return necessary equipment.
12. Assist with classroom organization and inventory management of equipment and materials.
13. Supervise students during classroom activities and school-wide events, including bus monitoring for school-related travel.
14. Maintain valid and appropriate licenses, certificates, and credentials as required for this position.
15. Follow established work schedules and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner.
16. Participate in training programs to enhance skills and proficiency related to the role.
17. Stay informed about current developments, literature, and technical resources related to job responsibilities.
18. Ensure compliance with safety procedures and follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.
19. Perform additional duties as assigned.
