Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Music Accompanist to join our team at the University of New Mexico. As a key member of our dance ensemble, you will play a crucial role in accompanying dancers and actors in various performances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Play musical instruments to accompany dancers or actors in flamenco, ballet, modern, or African dance, or musical theatre
  • Perform miscellaneous class-related duties as assigned by the instructor
Requirements
  • Enrolled in a degree-seeking program at UNM
  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters
  • Ability to work effectively with others and follow routine verbal and written instructions
  • Basic knowledge of music principles, fundamentals, and theories
Preferred Qualifications
  • Eligible to work as a UNM student employee
  • Ability to provide rhythmic and music structures and sustain progressions of mixed meter and irregular rhythmic patterns
  • Ability to memorize, prepare, and adapt musical selections for classwork, class projects, and performances
