The Railway Operations Specialist position is responsible for providing on-site protection for activities on and around live railroad tracks. The role involves job site coordination, dispatcher/train communication, and managing various types of On-Track Safety in both controlled and non-controlled track areas.
Key Responsibilities:- Jobsite Protection: Ensure the required jobsite protection on each assignment, error-free and consistent with the rules. This includes radio communication with train dispatchers and engineers, ensuring work groups are clear of limits during train movements, and granting permission for trains and on-track equipment to proceed through limits.
- Daily Briefings: Conduct daily job briefings with all personnel on the job site and ensure adherence to the safety requirements of the railroad.
- Documentation: Prepare and submit required electronic forms, including job set-up forms for each flagging assignment, daily work reports, invoices, and other necessary reports.
- Equipment Handling: Manage and place signs, derails, and other tools and equipment weighing 15 to 90 pounds, as needed throughout the day.
- Safety Training: Actively participate in routine safety classes and qualification training.
- Communication: Maintain high-level communication with RWIC supervisors and managers regarding assignments and schedules.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
- High School Diploma: or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum of 2 years: in track and/or construction experience.
- 2-5 years: of track and/or construction experience.
- Prior experience: working within a railway company.
- Training: in railway Track Inspection Guidelines or equivalent.
