Nurse Specialist

The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) is seeking a skilled OB Associate to join our team in Labor and Delivery. As a key member of our patient care delivery team, you will provide technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Job Summary:The OB Associate will work collaboratively with the care team to ensure consistency and quality of care, promoting productive employee relations among staff members. You will perform a variety of basic patient care activities, including respiratory procedures, maintenance functional activities, specimen collection, and phlebotomy, among others.

- Perform basic patient care activities, including respiratory procedures, maintenance functional activities, specimen collection, and phlebotomy.
- Assist the registered nurse in gathering data on patient conditions, direct patient observation, obtaining vital signs, and recording patient information.
- Perform surgical scrub using aseptic technique on all procedures appropriate to labor and delivery.
- Assist patients in activities of daily living, including feeding, bathing, toileting, and other personal hygiene regimes.
- Assist in the training/orientation of other associates and care team members as directed.
- Follow all departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, including safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of patient care principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills. You will also need to be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet the needs of patients and the care team.
