Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Cybersecurity Operations role is pivotal in steering the Offensive Security initiative at Early Warning Services. This position encompasses the execution of application and network penetration assessments across all product offerings to evaluate the security posture of our products and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in offensive security methodologies, bug bounty program oversight, phishing simulations, and password auditing. This role reports directly to the Director of Offensive Security and collaborates closely with product managers, security analysts, technology partners, and security architects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of offensive security practices.
  • Execute penetration testing directives as outlined by the Director of Offensive Security, adhering to established security standards and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the recruitment, development, and performance management of the offensive security team.
  • Facilitate the communication and escalation of findings from penetration tests and bug bounty programs.
  • Establish metrics to evaluate individual and team performance, as well as the value delivered to the organization.
  • Support internal security investigations and respond to emerging threats.
  • Exhibit effective leadership in cultivating high-performing teams that yield quality outcomes.
  • Research and remain informed about emerging security tools, trends, policies, and technologies.
  • Engage in open and constructive communication with team members, leadership, and clients to collaboratively address business needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current vulnerability exploitation techniques.
  • Regularly interact with clients, regulators, and auditors.
  • Contribute to the organization's commitment to risk management and the protection of system integrity and data confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education typically obtained through security certifications or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
  • Robust understanding of both offensive and defensive security, including evasion techniques and detection methodologies.
  • Strong grasp of enterprise and cloud networking and application technologies.
  • A minimum of 4 years in security penetration testing.
  • At least 8 years of experience in IT or information security, including 3 years in a leadership or mentorship capacity.
  • Proven ability to maintain highly engaged, high-performing teams.
  • Experience in managing or supervising penetration testing initiatives.
  • Familiarity with communication network technologies.
  • Advanced understanding of penetration testing procedures and tools, including Kali Linux and other industry-standard resources.
  • Expertise in Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Top 10 Vulnerabilities and testing methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of information gathering techniques and processes.
  • Proficient in web application technologies, programming languages, databases, and operating systems including Linux, Unix, Mac OSX, and Windows.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in assessing risks associated with security vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent security assessment writing capabilities.
  • Background and drug screening are mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 or more years of security experience within the financial services sector.
  • Hands-on practical Offensive Cybersecurity certifications (OSCP, OSWE, eJPT, Pentest+, eCPPT, eCPTX, eWPT, eWAPTX, GIAC, etc.) or equivalent.
  • General information security management certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA, etc.) or equivalent.
  • Cloud certifications (SAA, SAP, AWS Security Specialty, etc.) or equivalent.
Physical Requirements

The working environment is primarily an office setting. The role is mostly sedentary, requiring extensive computer use and prolonged periods of sitting. Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching may be necessary. The ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally is required, along with visual acuity and dexterity for document preparation and manipulation of office equipment. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders is essential.
