Job Description

Overview

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing optimal manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes and methods for propulsion systems
  • Support manufacturing issues on existing product designs and new satellite mechanisms
  • Provide design for manufacturability input and support testing of assemblies
  • Develop and implement plans to move from design/test into build/production
  • Work with downstream Propulsion sub-systems and upstream Vehicle attribute simulation teams to identify model requirements
  • Design and implement production floor layout, focusing on modularity and adaptability
  • Develop production procedures/processes and manage transition of components and module assemblies from development to production
  • Drive first builds of flight hardware and establish production line
  • Coordinate and execute development, qualification, and acceptance testing of flight hardware
  • Design test equipment required to properly proof test and leak check system
  • Identify capital tooling and work center capability needs and lead efforts of standing up key production capabilities
  • Work closely with development and design engineers, internal machine shop, and external vendors to make parts designed for manufacturability, reliability, and source-ability
  • Lead team in production readiness reviews for transition from development into full-rate program production
  • Advise team members on technical decisions related to the team's product and act as responsible manufacturing engineer on non-conformances and work instructions
  • Resolve and analyze manufacturing and test discrepancies, interfacing with the quality team
  • Drive continuous process improvements to focus on cost reduction in every element of the production processes
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with existing processes or products and make modifications and improvements as needed

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other related discipline and/or 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with propulsion systems
  • Design software experience (AutoCAD or SolidWorks preferred)
  • Familiarity in Electrical, Thermal, Control domains and internal combustion engines
  • Experience with at least 1 major Propulsion Subsystem, with working knowledge of other sub-systems
